A Dream to be with Her
The Indigo Canvas
Ayush stared at the ceiling, its familiar cracks now morphing into constellations under the relentless assault of moonlight. Sleep, the solace he craved, remained stubbornly out of reach. Instead, his mind was a canvas splashed with memories of Shruti. Her laughter, a melody that chased him through the waking hours, echoed even louder in the quiet of the night.
They'd been friends since childhood, two souls intertwined by shared laughter and whispered secrets. But somewhere along the path, their connection had bloomed into something more. Ayush, however, remained trapped in the shackles of unspoken feelings. The fear of ruining their bond kept him tethered to the shore, watching Shruti sail towards uncharted territories of her heart.
Tonight, the ache in his chest was a tangible thing. He closed his eyes, and a kaleidoscope of dreams unfolded. Lush green meadows stretched before him, bathed in the golden glow of a setting sun. He saw Shruti, her hair a cascade of midnight under the twilight sky. Her smile, usually reserved for their playful banter, held a hint of longing that mirrored his own.
They walked hand-in-hand, a comfortable silence settling between them. Words seemed superfluous in this dreamscape. He reached for her hand, his fingers brushing against hers, sending a jolt through him. But before he could bridge the gap, the dream shifted.
He was back in his room, the moonlight a stark contrast to the warmth of his dream. A tear escaped his eye, tracing a wet path down his cheek. The silence mocked him, amplifying the hollowness in his chest.
With a newfound resolve, Ayush rose. He wouldn't let this dream remain a fleeting memory. Tomorrow, he would confess his feelings, shatter the dam of unspoken emotions. The risk was terrifying, but the alternative, a life without Shruti, was a far bleaker picture.
As dawn painted the horizon with streaks of orange and pink, Ayush knew his life was about to change. He wasn't sure what the future held, but he wouldn't let this dream, this beautiful indigo canvas painted with Shruti's smile, fade away without a fight. It was time to turn the dream into reality.
